A 6-year-old girl died on a thrill ride at a Colorado amusement park on Sunday night, according to tragic reports.

The young girl is said to have been visiting the Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park on vacation with her family at the time, and had gotten on the Haunted Mine Drop ride.

The ride, which opened in July 2017, is advertized as the first to go underground, plunging riders 110 feet inside of Iron Mountain. The Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park was closed on Tuesday and an investigation is underway.

The park said in a statement on its website:  “We are deeply saddened and ask that you please keep the family of the deceased in your thoughts and prayers.”

It added: “Out of respect and concern for all parties involved, we will not have further comment until all details have been confirmed.”

As per reports, park visitors are required to sign a release of liability waiver before they go on any rides or attractions.

The 6-year-old’s death on the aforementioned ride is now being investigated by the sheriff’s and coroner’s office.

According to USA Today, at 7:44 p.m. on Sunday night, Garfield County Coroner’s Office was notified that a 6-year-old girl had suffered fatal injuries while riding the Haunted Mine Drop ride.

Park employees are said to have administered first aid until paramedics arrived, but the girl was pronounced dead at the scene.

My thoughts and prayers go out to this 6-year-old’s family. What a true tragedy.
