Kristen Bell recently admitted she’s been embarrassed when her daughters have ordered non-alcoholic beers at restaurants before.

During an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, the actress explained her daughters, Lincoln, 10, and Delta, 8, have a taste for the beverage that stems from a routine they had as babies.

“My kids have ordered nonalcoholic beers at restaurants before, which sounds insane if you don’t know because context is important, we’ve learned that over the last few years,” Bell told host Kelly Clarkson.

Bell, who is married to Dax Shepard, explained how the two of them would take a walk with their children around the neighborhood when they were really little.

Shepard, a recovering alcoholic who likes non-alcoholic beer, would typically bring a can on their walks.

“So, he’d pop one open, he’d have her on his chest and we’d walk and like look at the sunset. So, as a baby, she was like pawing at it and sometimes she would like suck on the rim of it so I think it feels to her like something special, something daddy.”

And while Bell is okay with her daughters having a taste at home, she shared things get uncomfortable when her children ask for a cold one when they’re out to eat.

“So we’ve been at restaurants where she said, ‘Do you have any nonalcoholic beer?’ and I’m like, ‘Maybe we just keep that for home,’” Bell added.

Several people on YouTube were quick to point out that while a drink may claim to be non-alcoholic, there are still small amounts of alcohol in it which aren’t good for minors or recovering addicts.

Clarkson and Bell discussed how what’s normal in one family may be strange for another, then Bell added, “but then I’m also sort of like, ‘You can judge me if you want, I’m not doing anything wrong. Like, that’s your problem.”
