To my son

A letter to my son
To my son, I can’t promise you forever or heaven and earth, but I can promise to love you forever.
I never believed in cloning or ever going to meet a younger version of me, but in you, I was surprised something like that existed.
You have shown me love and wisdom I never knew existed. At times I doubt who is meant to play the role of a father between us. You think farther than your peers and age mates. You were already training up your younger ones at a younger age, as though they are your kids.
You didn’t allow peer pressure to get into your way as you were growing up; you knew what you always wanted and worked towards getting it. You are the most energetic willed person I ever know.
You might not have noticed how I pay attention to every little thing you do or how I ask for your opinion in delicate matters.
You have been my strength and companion ever since your mother left. I will forever appreciate her for giving me a rare gem like you.
I don’t know how long I might live; I don’t know if I will be able to see your kids. I know you will surely make a great father, you have all it takes.
I am proud to call you, son; you have proven that you are indeed your father’s first son.
I can’t promise you that I will always be here for you and the rest of your life, but I can promise you that I will love you till the end of mine.
I love you, son.
