Often, but not always, and nobody can promise it ahead of time. AI voices usually handle common names well, while unusual spellings, names from other languages, and names with several valid pronunciations are where mistakes tend to happen. Check the current details on the official site, and listen before you share.
Why names are tricky for AI voices
A text-to-speech voice reads spelling and guesses the sound. That works for "Emma" or "Jack." It gets shakier with names like "Siobhan," "Aoife," or "Niamh," or with names where the same spelling is said differently in different families (think "Joaquin" or "Andrea"). Hyphenated names and names with accents can also trip it up.
What you can do
- Listen first. Play the whole thing yourself before your child hears it. Do not make it a surprise for you too.
- Try a phonetic spelling. If the name sounds off, a respelling (for example, "Sheevawn" for Siobhan) might help, if the form lets you enter one. Check what the order form allows, as I can't confirm that it does.
- Consider a nickname. If your child answers happily to a shorter name, using that may sidestep the problem.
- Check the rest of the text. A name can appear several times, and a spelling error is a different problem from a pronunciation one.
If it still sounds wrong
Whether you can get a redo depends on the seller's policy, which can change. Read Can I get free remakes if the Santa letter has a mistake? and confirm the current terms on the official site before ordering. If a mispronounced name would upset your child, or if you would find it jarring, this may not be the right product for you. A letter or a voice you read aloud yourself would be safer.

Is it worth the risk?
For most children with common names, the risk is small. For names with several pronunciations, treat the first listen as a real test. If you are weighing the whole product, this honest review covers the wider picture.
